Why your student CV must be flawless

In Morocco, a recruiter spends an average of 30 seconds on a CV. For a student or recent graduate profile, it is even faster because there is less content to read. Your CV must therefore be immediately readable, professional, and convincing. A good student CV does not try to hide the lack of experience — it highlights your education, your skills, and your potential. Here is how to build it effectively.

The ideal structure of a Moroccan student CV

Recommended order of sections:

  1. Header: name, photo, contact details
  2. Title / Headline: what you are looking for
  3. Education: your main asset
  4. Experience / Internships: even short ones
  5. Technical skills: languages, tools, software
  6. Activities and interests: to show your personality

Section by section: how to fill it in

1. Header and contact details

  • Photo: mandatory in Morocco. Professional photo (neutral background, proper attire, slight smile)
  • First and last name: in bold, size 16-18
  • Phone: your main number (active WhatsApp)
  • Email: professional (firstname.lastname@gmail.com, NOT amine-cool2003@hotmail.com)
  • City: your current city
  • LinkedIn: if your profile is complete
  • Do not include: full address, CIN, marital status, date of birth (optional)

2. Title / Headline (essential)

The title immediately indicates what you are looking for. Without a title, the recruiter does not know what to do with your CV.

Examples:

  • “3rd-year marketing student – Looking for a 4-month end-of-studies internship”
  • “Recent computer engineering graduate – Seeking first job as a developer”
  • “Master's student in finance – Available for an internship starting February 2026”

3. Education

This is the most important section for a student. Detail:

  • Degree in progress or obtained (exact title)
  • Institution + city
  • Years (start – expected end)
  • Specialization / option
  • Honors, if you have one
  • Main subjects relevant to the target position

Example:

Master's in Digital Marketing – ENCG Casablanca (2024 – 2026)
Specialization: digital strategy, e-commerce, data marketing
End-of-studies project: “Optimization of e-commerce conversion for a Moroccan SME”

4. Experience / Internships

Even if you have only one 2-month internship, detail it with action verbs:

  • Job title + company + city + dates
  • 3-4 bullet points describing your tasks and achievements
  • Quantified results if possible

Example:

Digital Marketing Intern – DigitalFirst Agency, Casablanca (Jul. – Aug. 2025)

  • Content creation for 3 client Instagram accounts (120 posts)
  • Performance analysis (weekly reporting in Google Analytics)
  • Writing 5 SEO-optimized blog articles
  • Result: +25% average engagement on managed accounts

5. Technical skills

Present them visually and in an organized way:

  • Languages: Arabic (native), French (fluent – C1), English (intermediate – B2)
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office (advanced), Excel (PivotTables, formulas), Canva, Photoshop
  • Professional tools: Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, Hootsuite
  • Programming (if relevant): Python, SQL, HTML/CSS

Use a system of progress bars or levels (basic / intermediate / advanced / expert).

6. Activities and interests

This section is VERY important for a student because it compensates for the lack of experience:

  • Associations: “Active member of the ENCG Student Office – Organization of the 2025 Company Forum (500 participants)”
  • Volunteering: “Free tutoring for high school students (2 years)”
  • Sports: “Captain of the university football team” (shows leadership)
  • Certifications: “Google Digital Marketing Certificate (2025)”

Formatting rules

  • 1 page maximum: never 2 pages for a student
  • Readable font: Calibri, Arial, Helvetica (size 10-11 for body text)
  • Margins: 1.5 to 2 cm on each side
  • No garish colors: blue, dark gray, or dark green for accents
  • Airy: let the document breathe (spaces between sections)
  • PDF format: always send as PDF (formatting does not move)
  • File name: CV-FirstName-LastName-2026.pdf (not “CV final v3 corrected.docx”)

The 10 fatal mistakes to avoid

  1. No title: the recruiter does not know what you are looking for
  2. Unprofessional email: king-of-casa@yahoo.fr = straight to the trash
  3. Spelling mistakes: have at least 2 people proofread it
  4. Selfie / casual photo: invest in a professional photo (even a smartphone + white background)
  5. 2-page CV: you are a student, 1 page is more than enough
  6. Vague descriptions: “I helped the team” → say WHAT exactly
  7. Lies: “fluent English” when you stutter in an interview
  8. Overloaded design: ultra-colorful templates are unreadable
  9. Useless information: CIN, blood type, parents' names
  10. Same CV for everything: adapt the skills you highlight according to the position

Adapting your CV to the context

  • For an internship in a traditional company: sober, classic format, blue/gray
  • For a creative agency / startup: a bit more design, but readable
  • For a technical position (IT, engineering): technical skills first, certifications visible
  • For banking / audit: ultra-classic, sober, honors and rankings visible

Conclusion

Your student CV is your first contact with the recruiter. Take the time to polish it: clear structure, targeted content, zero mistakes, and careful presentation. Even without much experience, a well-built CV shows your seriousness and your potential. Post your CV on Jawb.ma to be visible to Moroccan recruiters.
